Sending several documents in one envelope
An envelope can hold more than one PDF. Your signer moves through all of them in a single session and signs once at the end — they do not receive several separate requests.
Limits:
- Up to 10 documents per envelope.
- 10MB per file, and 50MB combined across the envelope. A set of files that each pass individually can still be refused together.
- At least one document must remain. Removing the last one is rejected; delete the envelope instead.
Credits are charged per envelope, not per document. Ten documents in one envelope costs 1 credit. Ten separate envelopes costs 10. If your signer needs to sign a set of papers together, one envelope is both cheaper and a better experience.
Placing fields. Page numbers are relative to each document, not to the combined file. Page 1 of your third document is "document 3, page 1" — not page 34. If you get a page-out-of-range error, you have almost certainly used a combined-file page number.
Downloading afterwards. Once complete, you can take the envelope three ways: the combined PDF, a single document on its own, or a ZIP of all of them.
One thing to understand before you rely on a per-document file as evidence: the combined sealed PDF is the artefact of record. A per-document file is an extract — it carries that document's pages plus the full certificate and audit pages, but the certificate describes the whole envelope, and the hash on it is the whole envelope's hash. It will not match a hash computed over the extract alone. For an audit, a dispute, or anything where the hash must verify, send the combined PDF.
